Ockendon Studio School is pioneering a new approach to education by recognising the need in the employment market for both strong academic qualifications coupled with relevant experience of work. As such Ockendon Studio School is founded upon two key principles; Academic Excellence and Employability Skills.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
As an Ockendon Studio School student you will recieve ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted) teaching delivered through The Ockendon Academy. We will teach at both Key Stage 4 (GSCE) and Key Stage 5 (A Levels). The list of the subject we teach is listed on our about subjects taught page. You will also be able to personalise your subjects to enable you to progress onto your chosen career path.
EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS
As well as completing your qualifications, at Ockendon Studio School you will also learn key employability skills through two days per week paid work experience plus a full enrichment programme; WorldHost training and completing employer projects.
Work experience: Our aim, with your help, is to find you work placements within your chosen field that will be in addition to your studies. The work placements will be paid and be completed two days per week. Therefore once you leave Ockendon Studio School you will have a jam-packed CV ready to take to your university interview or add to your CV.
Enrichment programme: You will have the opportunity to complete one or more of the following;Duke of Edinburgh, Extended Projext, Certificate of Persona Effectiveness, Sports Leader Award and Volunteering.
WorldHost training: All Studio School students will have the chance to complete WorldHost training. This advanced customer service skills training was delivered to all the ‘Games Maker’ volunteer who partook in the London 2012 Games.
Employer projects: Employer projects are challengin business briefs commissioned straight from employers and provide a powerful vehicle for learning. These projects will teach you how to work in a team as well as developing your leadership skills and provide links to local employers.
